Long Distance is The Syndicate’s open-source play. Open source usually refers to software: it means that the software’s code is free, and anyone who wants to can reshape, edit, and reuse elements of the code. Long Distance begins with a thematic prompt, the original "code." Company members interpret the prompt and create original material in any medium in response to it, documenting and sending their work to a selected lead artist. She then draws on this body of work to collaborate with local artists and create a new work to perform for an audience in her home city.

The Syndicate has performed iterations of Long Distance in Los Angeles, The Hague, Myrtle Beach, and Brooklyn.
